Retired from the Cleveland Fire Department and US Navy Reserves. Passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Mr. John Myron Zeleznik, Jr.

John M. Zeleznik, Jr

., age 87, of North Royalton, Ohio; beloved husband of 58 years of the late Loretta E. Zeleznik (nee Zoller) who passed away in April 2018; loving father of Craig M. Zeleznik (Pamela); dear grandfather of Bryce Zeleznik and Austin Zeleznik; cherished uncle of Karen Tillman (David), Steve Zoller, and Linda Kreiner (Michael), and great-uncle of Michael Tillman, Jonathan Tillman, Kaitlyn Kreiner, Matthew Kreiner, and Kyle Kreiner; cousin and friend of many. John was a 1949 graduate of James Ford Rhodes High School in Cleveland, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He joined the Cleveland Fire Dept. in 1957, and spent 34 years as a firefighter, retiring as Battalion Chief in June 1991. John was also a 50 year member of the John Barkley Masonic Lodge No. 621. He passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

The family will receive friends at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 7501 Ridge Road, Parma, from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

Funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Interment with U.S. Army and Cleveland Firefighter honors will follow at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery in Cleveland.

age 47, passed away March 29, 2019. ROBERT KOLLAR SR.

Robert Kollar, Sr.

-age 73, of Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Southwest General Hospital, Middleburg Heights. He was born on June 30, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew and Mary (nee Proze) Kollar.

Bob served in the U.S.Army during the Tet Offensive in Vietnam in 1967-1968. He was employed as a Cleveland fireman for 33 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Brunswick VFW #9520, the Medina VFW # 5137, and I.A.F.F. Local #93.

He enjoyed golfing, carpentry, and being a handyman. Bob was devoted to his sibling’s care and wouldn’t hesitate to drop what he was doing to help others. He was a “father figure” and “mentor” to many people with his special ways of kindness.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Valerie (nee Wilson); dear children, Robert (Julie) Kollar, Jr., Todd Kollar, Gene Wilson, Janelle (Andrew) Martovitz, Nichole (Leon) Rudkowski; brother, John (Jan) Kollar; cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Trenton, Andrew Jr, Noah, Leo; sister-in-law, Diane Kollar; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Jerry, Mike, Tom, and his golfing buddies.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Andrew, Mary, Anna, Marge, Millie, William, and Betty.

The family will receive friends for Bob on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 1:00-3:00PM and 5:00-8:00PM at Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick.

 

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20th, at 11:00AM at the funeral home, with Fr. Joseph O’Donald, officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio at 12:30PM.

FRED SHEFFLER

left this world on January 6th to be reunited with his lovely wife Nancy who sadly passed away last year. Fred was a devoted husband, father and grand- father. He leaves behind three children, Debbie, Russell, an Kathy. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children. He was a Cleveland Firefighter rising to the rank of Assistant-Chief before his retirement. Fred loved the outdoors, travel, and his church. He is preceded in death by his Father Russell, his Mother Delores and his brother Robert. Services will be held Saturday January 12th at 11:00 am at Emanuel Church of Christ, 6656 Center Road, Valley City, Ohio 44280
